About Me

Right so here’s the problem…I’m an addict.

My vice is food….and I don’t discriminate. I love all food. I love thinking about food, I love looking at food, I love hearing about food and obviously I love eating food (well you would hope so).

As a 1st generation Australian of Peranakan heritage, my tastebuds are not discriminatory, I’ll happily devour anything from a fish head to a meat pie.

Coming from a culture where food is a core element of social activity certainly helped in sparking my insatiable appetite. As my father is so often fond of quoting….we live to eat  not eat to live.

Enjoy

Quick Questions

Q: What are your qualifications?

None. That’s why I’m a “wannabe”! That said, I was very fortunate enough to accompany my eccentric parents on their travels while I was growing up…sampling a wide variety of cuisines almost all over the globe, from USA to India (where I contracted chickenpox..what luck) to South Africa where we drove nonstop from  Johannesburg to Capetown. I threw up 3 times on that drive. I was 8. On top of that I did the obligatory GAP year in Europe, backpacking through most of Western and Eastern Europe. Finally, of course, I’ve explored just about every nook and cranny in South East Asia…where my true passion for food lies.

That said, please note that everything on here is merely my subjective opinion and I don’t claim to be an expert in anything. While it has been said that “not everyone can be a food critic”, I think everyone is still entitled to have their own opinion on what they eat and whether they enjoyed it. This is mine.

Q: Who is S?

A: S is my ever faithful and impossibly patient partner and trusty sidekick. He used to be fairly apathetic about food…obviously that didn’t last.

Q: Who are Lily & Herman?

A: They are my parents. The nicknames stem from this post.

Q: Is this your real job?

I wish. No, I’m a final year law student spending too much time taking photos and writing about food when I should be buried chin deep in cases. I’ve also previously completed part of  a Journalism degree majoring in Professional Writing before taking a permanent break and working/travelling my way around the world.
